Jonathan Carlisle Visit
As part of our Record Breakers project, we were visited by Jonathan Carlisle (a GB international swimmer).
Here is a brief overview of his visit from class 3.
When Jonathan came to visit class 3 we learned a lot of important facts.
Did you know that you have to be able to swim 40 lengths in the swimming pool, which is 1000 metres, just to be able to swim 50 metres at sea? The reason it is only 50 metre at sea is because of the current. Swimming is a sport that can save your life.
To stay fit and healthy, here are Jonathan's helpful tips:
- Swim at least once a week.
- Eat 3 to 4 portions vegetables a day.
- Eat 1 to 2 portions of fruit a day.
We also learned about Jonathan Carlisle’s training plan. He told us that he swims twice a day 5 times a week. He swims for two and a half hours at a time and he eats 8000 calories a day while in training.
Jonathan signed a swimming cap for us and Pieter was our class winner because he could answer Jonathan's quiz question.
