Hetton Village Atlas Launch

On Friday 7th November 2014, Class 4 was invited to the Hetton Centre for the launch of The Hetton Village Atlas. The Local History Society has produced an atlas about the history and geology of the Hetton area and on Friday 7th November, and over the weekend, a launch event took place to share some of the information in the atlas with the local community.

Our school was invited to take part in the event and, in addition to visiting the launch, we got involved in the competitions - drawing wildlife found in the local area, making a scarecrow and a family 'Bake Off'.

On Friday afternoon, the children were able to take part in a range of interesting and informative activities at the launch and found out the results of the competitions!

You can see from the photographs just how much fun the children had...

Congratulations...

  • To Key Stage 1 Art Club - who worked together to make a fantastic, larger than life-sized, scarecrow which came 2nd Place.
  • To Bella - for her beautiful drawing of an owl that came 2nd Place.
  • To Erin and her Gran - whose delicious cake came 3rd Place.

Well done we are all very proud of you!

A Special Visitor...

The Mayor of Hetton, Councillor Wilkinson, and Mrs Robson visited our school to present the prizes.

The Mayor also presented the school with a copy of The Hetton Village Atlas.

We received a lovely thank you and keepsake for supporting the event.  It has a special place in

our display cabinet in the school entrance.
