At Hetton Primary we regard homework as an important part of your child’s education.
Activities and tasks are carefully chosen and set with the following aims in mind;
To allow home and school to work in partnership to promote learning and give opportunities for regular communication.
To encourage children to find out about new topics, give extra practise at activities or extend work already carried out in school.
To develop children’s study skills and independence in learning in enjoyable way
This year (2017-2018) we have purchased CGP homework books in Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling and Maths for each child in school. The children are given tasks each week to complete and by the end of the year, will have completed the full book. The children's homework is matched to the new curriculum and for the 'stage' they are working at.
Parents also have an important role to play and we value your partnership and support.
When your child brings activities/tasks home please make sure:
Tasks are completed, offering help if needed and returned on the correct day.
Your child has a quiet place to work and the correct equipment is available for them to use.
You sign and comment as requested in diaries.
