Joining our Hetton Primary School family- Two Year Old Provision and Nursery

Come and join our happy, child centred family!

At Hetton Primary School we are incredibly proud of how our school has grown with the addition of our Two Year Old provision: Explorers, and our Three and Four year old Nursery, Adventurers.

We have a brand new school with beautiful facilities and environments, and a committed and experienced team, who nurture relationships with families and work hard to ensure that the very youngest children in our care get the best start to their time in school.

Our curriculum is well balanced and has the children's interests and needs at the centre, full of engaging activities that foster magic and excitement around coming to school, and the beginning of their journey into learning.

It is also an opportunity for the children to develop friendships and social skills, start building positive relationships from an early age and enhance their vocabulary - skills that will last a lifetime.

They also have access to the other areas of our building including our newly refurbished Library, sensory room and hall space for physical activities. We are extremely lucky to have such beautiful environments to learn, play and grow in!

Working Parents New Funding from April 2024

Starting from April 2024, existing childcare support will be expanded in phases. By September 2025, most working families with children under the age of 5 will be entitled to 30 hours of childcare support.

The changes are being introduced gradually to make sure that providers can meet the needs of more families. This means that:

From April 2024, eligible working parents of 2-year-olds will be able to access 15 hours childcare support.

From September 2024, 15 hours childcare support will be extended to eligible working parents of children from the age of 9 months to 3-year-olds. (At Hetton Primary School we only offer from Two Year Old provision up.)

From September 2025, eligible working parents with a child from 9 months old up to school age will be entitled to 30 hours of childcare a week.

Like the existing offer, these hours are used over 38 weeks of the year at Hetton Primary School, from Two Years Old.

Please visit the Childcare Choices Government website to see if you are eligible for funding, there is a childcare funding checker and you can also apply for your funding code:

Please contact our school office for further information on 01915623323 or SHPoffice@hettonprimary.org.uk and your details will be forwarded to our Early Years Lead Mrs Fearby, who will get back to you.

We will be happy to help!
