School Council 2024-2025
Congratulations to Jacob, Leon, Aiyla, Anna, Jack and Alfie who were voted in by each class to be on the school council and represent the children of Hetton Primary School.
Our first meeting was held in October and top of the agenda was Children In Need and Anti-Bullying Week. After so many ideas, the following was decided:
Children In Need
The whole school will be wear non-uniform and/or Pudsey clothes.
Early Years, Year 1 and Year 3 will be taking part in a Pudsey drawing competition.
Year 2 and Year 5 will be taking part in a sponsored 'stay quiet for an hour.'
Year 4 will be sponsored to have a 'no-technology' day.
Year 6 want a sponsored bingo event.
All money raised will go to the Children In Need charity.
Anti-Bullying Week
The theme this year is CHOOSE RESPECT. CHOOSE KINDNESS.
The children will be taking part in a secret KINDNESS challenge throughout the week.
Tuesday 12th November: Odd Socks day
This is to celebrate that we are all different but are just as wonderful.
Watch out for photographs and future developments from the newly formed school council.
Anti Bullying Week November 2024
Tuesday 12th November was Odd Socks Day where we all wore the most colourful and patterened odd socks that we could find!
Miss Oldroyd led our assembly where we discussed the importance of RESPECT, the theme for this year. We also spoke about what bullying is and used our slogan 'Bullying is R.I P' to help us understand.
Bullying is:
Repeated, Intentional and Power
Our final challenge of the week was our secret KINDNESS challenge. We have all chosen someone from our class to be KIND to over the week...but it had to remain a secret! On Friday 15th we are going to try and guess who our 'kind' person was. This will be difficult as we all try to be kind to everyone....
School Council 2023 / 2024
Our main goal of the school council this academic year will be to look at our anti-bullying policy and work on implementing systems to use within school to support each other. We will be working towards the anti-bullying charter mark and we need a team of dedicated, responsible children to help us make our school the best place it can be.

Monday 13th November - Anti-Bullying Week
This week is Anti-Bullying Week with the theme of 'Make some noise'. The school council started off the week by leading a whole school assembly to share the theme of this week and why it is so important. As a school we also celebrated by wearing our odd socks to show that we are all different and unique.
The school council then set the school two different challenges for this week!
Firstly, design your own odd sock which you feel represents you and shows that we are all different.
Secondly, design your own anti-bullying super hero who can help us defeat bullying.
Wednesday 29th November
Today the school council worked together to decide on a
winner for our Anti-Bullying superhero competition. We had lots
of amazing entries which made it super hard to narrow down.
Congratulations to our winners: Sarah, Jodie, Phoebe and Harry.
Their anti-bullying heroes will soon be displayed around our school
