Nursery MTP Spring 1.pptx

Week beginning 16th February 2026

What a magical week we’ve had in nursery!

This week we’ve been exploring the wonderful world of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The children loved bringing the story to life with hands-on play! We had great fun pouring and scooping dry porridge oats into big, medium and small bowls — and talked all about how they felt, comparing sizes and describing textures with friends.
Everyone made their very own bear face using paper plates, paint and lots of cutting and sticking — we were super proud of how carefully the children used their scissors! The classroom was full of giggles and creativity as the bears came to life.
Our snack time turned into a porridge party! Some children added a little honey or syrup and gave it a “yum!”  others decided they preferred playing with the oats over eating them, which sparked lots of lovely talking about different tastes!
We danced our socks off on the stage with dressing-up and songs, and have also been practising cutting skills in lots of different fun ways.
We were lucky with the weather and loved being outside! Whether zooming around on bikes, taking care of dolls in pushchairs, or exploring with body boards — the smiles were non-stop!

RE

🇨🇳 Lunar New Year Celebrations!
This week we also celebrated Chinese New Year! The children tried yummy vegetable spring rolls, prawn crackers, rice, noodles and even a bit of curry sauce. We explored red rice in our sensory tray using chopsticks — what a challenge that was! We also had fun painting Chinese numerals in the creative area.

✨ The Great Race!
We read The Great Race and the children loved acting out the story with puppets in our very own Lunar Race in the hall — cheering and laughter filled the room! We then watched a real dragon dance video and made our own dragon dance together — it was a brilliant celebration of movement, music and colour.

🔢 Maths
Our focus in maths this week has been number 5! The children enjoyed working together with Numicon pieces to find lots of ways to make 5 — like putting 3 and 2 together to make 5. Such brilliant counting and team work!
